El corazón migra

Through simple interventions and minimal interactions, and later photographing and embellishing with drawings and objects, I aim to depict the experiences and emotions of migrants as they leave their homes and communities to face a new reality in the Verzas- ca Valley, Switzerland. Involving both migrants and locals in the creation of these artworks and sculptures establishes a connec- tion with the local community, nurturing empathy and comprehen- sion of their fears and sorrows. I believe that this project has the potential to advocate for social and environmental justice in the region, providing visitors a compelling and immersive artistic experience. Every emerging civilization aspires to build upon its predecessor’s foundations. The more tolerant communities un- derstand the value of integrating these new layers into their own existence: encompassing culture, knowledge, customs, daily life, activities, and trades in the newfound domain, thereby enhancing the overall experience. Migration, much like the construction of a pyramid, entails layering, where each level is built upon the pre- ceding one, akin to the methodical placement of stones. As one discovers a new continent, the coastline fades from view. As one builds a new life, memories of the past gradually fade away.

It’s in this trajectory that the project evolves through interactions, while simultaneously shedding technological layers: progressing from on-site interventions documented through medium format photography; transitioning from the camera to the computer; traversing from post-production to printing; integrating drawings and objects onto paper, subsequently scanned to create a col- lage; the file then expanded for printing on metallic surfaces; culminating in displays amid the backdrop of rocks, trees, and waterfalls.

Attraverso semplici interventi e minime interazioni, poi fotografati ed arricchiti con disegni e oggetti, cerco di raffigurare l’esperienza e le emozioni dei migranti che lasciano le loro case e comunità per affrontare una nuova realtà nella Valle Verzasca, in Svizzera. Coinvolgere sia i migranti che gli abitanti del luogo nella creazione di queste opere e sculture facilita la connessione con la comunità locale, promuovendo empatia e comprensione delle loro paure e tristezze. Credo che questo progetto possa essere un sostegno per la giustizia sociale e ambientale nella regione, offrendo ai visitatori un’esperienza artistica potente e coinvolgente.

Ogni civiltà emergente aspira a riprendere a costruire sulle fonda- menta dei suoi predecessori. Le comunità più tolleranti compren- dono il valore dell’integrazione di queste nuove sfumature nella propria esistenza: accogliendo cultura, conoscenza, usanze, vita quotidiana, attività e mestieri nel nuovo dominio, migliorando così l’esperienza complessiva. La migrazione, un po’ come la costruzione di una piramide, implica la stratificazione, dove ogni livello è posato su quello precedente, simile alla posa metodica delle pietre. Quando si scopre un nuovo continente, la costa gradual- mente svanisce dalla vista. Allo stesso modo, mentre si costruisce una nuova vita, pian piano i ricordi del passato svaniscono.

Il progetto si sviluppa attraverso interazioni, abbandonando gli strati tecnologici: partendo da interventi sul luogo, documentati attraverso la fotografia di medio formato, passando dalla fotoca- mera al computer e dalla post-produzione alla stampa, integrando disegni e oggetti su carta; successivamente scannerizzati per creare un collage. Il file viene poi ampliato per la stampa su super- fici metalliche, culminando in esposizioni integrate tra le rocce, gli alberi e le cascate.
