House of Photography “Casa Azul”; provides a welcoming space to curatorial, cultural, recreational and professional activities. Casa Azul is a project promoted by Verzasca Foto, which aims to offer a place where people can create, meet, share, and develop their artistic and personal practices.

Outside of the Verzasca Foto Festival, Casa Azul proposes a series of exhibitions by Verzasca Foto and local curators alike. Every first Sunday of the month, Casa Azul hosts an Artists’ Café, where you are welcome to visit us and show and discuss with us your creative projects at any stage of realisation.

The House of Photography in Gordola “Casa Azul” is safe!

After months of uncertainty and almost resigned to having to leave these spaces, we learned with surprise and joy that the building will not be demolished thanks to various oppositions.

As such, from May onwards, we plan to offer activities that share the energy of this wonderful house. In September, some of Verzasca Foto’s exhibitions will also be held here.

We wish it to be a space open to everything and everyone. For those interested in proposing cultural activities, meetings, performances, workshops, etc. please, contact us at

CASA AZUL, ABOUT AND ACTIVITIES

Nicknamed Casa Azul, this house proposes a dynamic agenda of activities open to the public throughout the year and is a free and accessible meeting space for all its associates.

We encourage the proposal of the following activities:

-Conferences and presentations of photographic projects and photobooks

-Projections of films, documentaries, and short films

-Laboratories for artistic development

-Workshops and teaching events on practical and theoretical photography and visual arts

-Pop-up stands and exhibition for the promotion of new works

We also provide work/study/meeting spaces for associations or freelance workers such as photographers, graphic designers, IT specialists, web designers, start-ups, or small entrepreneurs, work groups, etc.

The house has a main hall for meetings and events, a reception with a photobook library space, and kitchen. On the first floor there are 4 rooms for further activities and exhibitions.

The first House of Photography in Canton Ticino was opened in 2021 by the Verzasca Foto during the Verzasca Foto Festival. After years of artistic interactions with outdoor venues, the organisers of the festival decided to realise one of their main objectives: the creation of a space in a fixed structure in which to offer cultural and exhibition activities throughout the year.

Casa Azul is intended to be an open and welcoming place, where, in addition to regular exhibitions, a variety of cultural, recreational and professional activities can occur: a space that is easily accessible to the population of the local valleys and plain and locale of interest for those coming from other Cantons and abroad. This project is realised to promote an exchange of ideas and ultimately develop a long-term hive of activity and of research on new ways of conceiving, communicating, and conceptualising cultural productions in the area.
